Search underway for UAF’s next provost and executive vice chancellor

Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor Anupma Prakash has announced her retirement, effective May 31, 2025. The University of èßäÊÓÆµ Fairbanks is launching a national search for her successor.

The search will be led by a committee composed of faculty, staff, and students, with representation from èßäÊÓÆµ governance groups. The goal is to launch the search before faculty go off contract in May, review applications in the fall, and appoint a new provost by the end of the calendar year. The selected candidate is expected to begin in early 2026, either with the spring semester or the start of the new fiscal year on July 1.

To support a smooth transition, UAF is accepting nominations, including self-nominations, for an interim provost and executive vice chancellor. Nominations will be accepted through Monday, April 21, via . The interim appointment is expected to be announced by May 1.
