Megan Riebe appointed Acting University of èßäÊÓƵ Foundation President

The Executive Committee of the UA Foundation Board of Directors has appointed Megan Riebe as the acting UA Foundation President effective August 22, 2020, following the retirement of current UA Foundation President Susan Foley.

BOR Chair recognizes Acting President Rizk, welcomes Pat Pitney to UA

On Monday, August 3, we will welcome Pat Pitney to the University of èßäÊÓƵ as our interim president. We look forward to her leadership, her vision and her collaboration with the UA community. Welcome Pat! I also want to acknowledge and thank Acting President Michelle Rizk who stepped into this role to help the èßäÊÓƵ move forward in a time of needed transition. We are grateful for her service to our community not only as acting system president but also in her current position as vice president of èßäÊÓƵ relations.

UA Board of Regents names Pat Pitney as èßäÊÓƵ's interim president

The University of èßäÊÓƵ Board of Regents announced today that it has selected Pat Pitney to serve as the èßäÊÓƵ's interim president. Pitney will take over from Acting President Michelle Rizk on Aug.1.

Mary Gower named Chief Equity and Compliance Officer

Mary Gower was retitled the University of èßäÊÓƵ Chief Equity and Compliance Officer (CECO) on May 20, 2020. Reporting to the President and as a member of the President's Executive Leadership Team, the CECO provides leadership and oversight to the Offices of Equity and Compliance. The position helps ensure that the University of èßäÊÓƵ is not only compliant in meeting èßäÊÓƵ obligations and responsibilities, but is also proactive, responsive, and collaborative in providing a learning and working environment free of discrimination for faculty, staff and students. Mary Gower was initially appointed Chief Title IX Officer in February 2017.

Liz Wolfe loves to travel and it shows

Elizabeth (Liz) Wolfe's journey with the University of èßäÊÓƵ began in January 2018 when she joined the Human Resources department where she worked in accounting. She transitioned to a position as the UA Foundation's Fairbanks gift manager on June 1.

I accepted Beverly Shuford's resignation as vice chancellor for Administrative Services, effective June 1, 2020, and have designed a plan for management of the Administrative Services units, the details of which are included below.

Erika Van Flein announces retirement

After almost 30 years of service to the University of èßäÊÓƵ Human Resources Department, Erika Van Flein, Director of Employee Transitions and Benefits, plans to retire June 1.

The first HR spotlight will feature our HR Accounting Assistant, Mary Goldsby. Mary has been with University of èßäÊÓƵ HR for 5 years and has been in her current position since Summer 2019. Her career started when a friend referred her to apply to UA, the rest is history.

For Donna Bozeman, University of èßäÊÓƵ HR Personnel Technician, retirement is right around the corner. To be sure we sent her off with a big thank you, we would like to spotlight her and let her know she will be missed. Bozeman says what she will miss most about working at UA, is helping new employees grow and watching them find themselves.
